Scoring
Judges' Votes
Using Bob Legg's criteria, "shooting style, lighting and audio as established by the root clip," this video most accurately follows the root clip. Therefore it gets my vote. "Tony's" acting and his thoughts running through his head most accurately follows the root clip. "What Have I Gotten Myself Into?" wins by most closely following directions.
"Draw" and "The Pursuit" are also quite good.

Cool guys, I love the ending! I sorta wished what was in the case wasn't revealed just yet...to create more suspense, but good job none the less.
After watching it again, I noticed the reflection of the car in the sunglasses, great shot!
Also, a gun is going to be terribly hard to tote around campus or even downtown knoxville.
It's not hard to tote a gun around campus.
For one thing, no one said any part of these videos had to be shot on campus. For another, just because the gun in this video is real doesn't mean that a fake one (circa $25) can't be used in future chapters. Afterall, not everyone had access to an actual pelican case, but that doesn't mean they immediately went out and forked over $100 dollars for one just so they could maintain consistency. The point is to keep the story going along the same lines as the rootclip, literal consistency in props and costumes is secondary. And Stephen's right, you can ask permission to use a real gun in your production on campus, or just use a fake one and no one will bother you. And off-campus is virtually a non-issue unless you're using a real gun with blank ammunition, in which case a call to KPD would be highly recommended.
tsigeyua,
You just compared a case to a firearm. Just be careful you don't break a city ordinance. Many, MANY film makers have been arrested on site for brandishing even a fake firearm to shoot a scene. Obviously, since this was done in a closed room, all is well. But there was another video on here where two people had them out in an alleyway - and unless they had consent from the city they should be careful about doing it again.
Nice job on matching the music in Chapter 2 to Chapter 1!
nice. i could see a good story resulting from this.
Looks great! Very promising-I think this has a lot of potential as the story unfolds. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic job! The camera quality was a tad sub-par in a few shots but this video has some great character development and really advanced the story line. I like that Robert Applecroft plays a role in this video and not so much in the other ones.
Quick question: if Tony has Robert's phone number, then how is Robert able to give the case to the wrong guy. I thought the point was that the three characters did not know each other.
Nice job mixing the first chapters music in there. This was definitely my favorite cliffhanger, therefore I'm giving you one of my votes. My only critique is that the color/contrast looked weird as Scott was walking back towards his apartment. Other than that, looks good!
lobsterdouche: the first chapter simply established that Robert and Tony had never met in person, hence the vague description scribbled on the yellow paper. It did not specify whether they had ever spoken to one another or knew each other. For instance, Tony could have been the person who placed a call to Robert and ordered the delivery of the case in the first place.
Love it two thumbs up i want more!! Greg you are so freakin sexy baby!! Muahs
Good Video! My only complaint would be that I didn't really like the voice-over.
I didn't like the whole apartment scene and the coloring of the shot right before it. Other than that I liked where the story was going.
Good work. Seeing for for the first time - makes me wonder the reason for the note? The cash? The gun? Obviously, the briefcase was intended for someone else to knock off someone for a grand. What happens after he opens the door? Will this guy that got the briefcase by mistake have to be taken out since he should be able to put 2 & 2 together?????
Awesome job guys! I watched the other videos and yours was truly the best! Good luck!
I <3 Scott! =] I think the overall production is amazing. I get a kick out of watching it everytime. It has a lot of potential and definately keeps me guessing about what's gonna happen! Great job guys!
loved it duder!!!! I will get all my buddies out here in Iraq to vote for you! You definetly got your brothers vote!!!!!
Loved the video!! Great job!! Just like your brothers vote ya got mine too!!
hehehe...that was really good guys...
Like how the Scott character handles the gun. Obviously he has never held one before this. Does Scott know how to fire it? we shall see........ Otherwise: wrestling with the fact that Scott now has a car. Had to go back and check chapter one on that.
The best! After watching all of them it was real hard to make a vote for the top one al though I feel every one did a great JOB!!
When does the next chapter come out? Keep me posted.
Great job!
Awesum job!!! I really enjoyed the suspense......who's gonna die? Newspaper, 2 envelopes with moola, who's making the horse bets?
Great Job Steven

hey pretty cool!!!
I can't wait to see what happens next! Good Luck!
good job!!! i loved it!!!
yeah, super awesome. especially the super jump cut at the beginning. scott teleported to his car? nice
oh, and the filter put on later when scott's walking to his apt. the unnecessary blown out iris is amazing
lobsterdouche: you really are true to your name, especially the douche part. Why not change your name to douche bag? Quit being a hater before someone super kicks their foot up your ass.
Sorry man, just trying to shed some light through the torrent of undeserved praise given to this video. Honestly, it's a good video, but it's not the best thing I've ever seen.
loved it!!! keep it up!!!
umm lobster...these are all their friends commenting, of course they are going to be biased. Just like some of the comments on my video are from my brother...although he did post a couple negative aspects to attempt to be objective.
Not bad. . .but the music choices--eh. They do not match the visuals and are more sidtracting than adding to suspense. How come he just happens to look over the edge of the bridge and see the white Explorer after hearing about it over the phone--NAH! Way too coincidental. and the sudden color change and cut ot some unknown future time in the next shot, a narrative hole. How much time has passed? Some of the lines in the VO--eh. "This is a big case, there's got to be more in here.". . ."Is that a gun?" Well, duh. And the knock on the door--would the man on the bridge really have managed to catch up to the Explorer driver? And that fast? The KNOCK on the door with no sure clue as to who it might be is a nice way to end, though.
The idea was that the knock on the door could be anybody. Sure, Robert identified the car and the license plate with the assumption that he would track Scott down, but whether or not he is able to do it that quickly, or that someone else is at the door is up to the audience's perceptions. The music choices were purely a continuity decision, as they are the same as those tracks used in the rootclip, with the exception of Scott's music when he returns to the apartment. The blown out shot was an unintended equipment issue, not a conscious narrative decision. Sure, it's an odd coincidence that Robert happens to see the car just as he's hearing the description over the phone, but the assumption is that he's still close by (he walks fast, but not that fast). Further, the constraints of the submission guidlines (1:30 length) led us to that narrative choice to avoid carrying Robert's search for Scott's vehicle over into the next chapter, where we intend to amp up the conflict and further develop our characters. Having Robert go on a wild goose chase around Knoxville looking for Scott's vehicle would waste far too much screen time. Besides, it's cinema, anything can happen!
