All the Miller Lite I can drink...ahhh yeah....

If Bill Shatner and Bobby De Niro had a baby ...

wow did you use a steadicam?

6/19/2008 at 9:38 a.m. by mom_of_one

Wow, what talent.... I knew smoking caused cancer- had no idea it caused bad acting. Also, all the miller lite you can drink? Ya, that'll teach him. Is it safe to assume that "Jim" will be drinking away all the sadness and hurt that Tony caused him?

If you win (which you shouldn't) in your next clip you should use the money (it is money, right) for therapy. That'll make for a great ending.

sweet! this made me super uncomfortable at the beginning. good acting!

I like :) "no more santa"

@KRN - Your not serious...

I like the long take, you don't really see that anymore

Just a hunch, but ... I think ... there's ... keys ... to... a Miller Lite truck .... (hack - cough) in ... that, thar briefcase ...

6/19/2008 at 1:20 p.m. by looch

I totally would have pegged this guy for the PBR type. Miller Lite...seriously?

Pabst is the best! mmm... i'm thirsty

6/19/2008 at 2:02 p.m. by fiercedeityys

not sure why people insist on throwing drugs/booze into the entries. can't they think of anything better and less idiotic?

6/19/2008 at 2:34 p.m. by SomethingsAwry

wow mom_of_one, quite a critical review

he probably won't need therapy from the abuse Tony put him through, but the abuse from an over zealous reviewer

all in all, I didn't like it when I first watched it, but after watching it again, I can appreciate what you did here. we already know Jim is an alcoholic guy in a Santa costume, so why not a bitter, chain smoking, alcoholic madman, eh? still, it's far from the best, but it was a nice effort for doing it all yourself.

6/19/2008 at 4:36 p.m. by slickfire

looch, it's funny you say that since I actually am more of a PBR guy, just happened to have Miller Lite around.

BTW, I did have a script written, but didn't have enough time to get it shot, and couldn't get the people I needed together.......so after getting home from the bar, just did some ad lib stuff on camera, liked this one the best.....thanks for the feedback home skillets.

It's not the best submission for the contest, but I can tell you that I do like it a lot. Jim REALLY creeps me out in this one, and I find it very entertaining. I look forward to your next entry when you do have a bit more time to flesh out the concept.

i was talking to a furnace.......

6/20/2008 at 10:13 a.m. by bryceanderic

dude, I liked the acting and the character! I was actually just talking to my furnace the other day, pretty unsocial fellow, not much of a conversationalist

He IS wickedly creepy, which is precisely why I actually LIKE the acting and (for the most part) the dialogue. Granted, there's not much there (one shot, one person, one room, no substantial plot progression), but the delivery of the lines and the pacing is pretty good.

You did a good job of playing the part luxuriously, Slick -- no ploughing through lines or stammering or fading in and out. Other than a quick glimpse at the camera, you held the part down very well; I wish I could've seen you do that in a video with other actors and angles, though.

Next time, bribe your buddies to get them in on it and your audience (us) will be much more impressed. You CAN'T be a one-man show unless you're Eddie Murphy or Mike Meyers. ;)

I think fungus has me pegged...although the point was not to have substantial plot progression.... even in my other script with multiple characters. I'm proud of what I've done seeing that I've been stagnant in producing anything myself for about 3 years and I just got a new camera..... this site gave me the itch to produce again(aside from a beauteous new HD camera) and it feels great to be in the game again. Thank you all for your feedback.

Shatner and DeNiro eh? I dig it...for sure! Thanks dave.

@slickfire We're glad to have you on the site! Seeing newcomers is always exciting to us here at Rootclip.

I hope that you'll stick around for the next release of the site on July 8. We've got SO many improvements in store. From the addition of a judging panel (in addition to user votes), a new story browser page and user profiles, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

So, what kind of HD camera did you get? How do you like it?

6/22/2008 at 2:21 p.m. by FungusRidden

Glad you've got a beautiful HD camera! I'm excited to see what you'll do with it -- almost as excited as I am about some of these new Rootclip updates! :>

This community is beginning to nicely blossom, so additional features couldn't be coming at a nicer time. ^-^

Canon VIXIA HF10..... going to be investing in the Letus35 Mini soon, any suggestions for lenses?

6/23/2008 at 10:42 a.m. by davidmoon

Keep at it my friend! Looking forward in seeing more from you.

That Letus35 looks cool. DOF tricks are my favorite.
