Rootclip

Doesn't quite follow the continuity from the last one, nor the continuity in itself hence lighting. I loved the fighting though, and the gun toss and that which followed. So pretty good in itself, but not necessarily with the whole story.

yeah, we didn't like the idea of the whole girl and secret agent stuff so we rebelled against it and made Igor a zombie. plus, i never heard of this "consistency" word... and anyway this isnt our first! we won a Rootclip before called "task one" but for some reason their first ever story isn't online..

The shot though the neck was epic. I also am a big fan of USPS so congrats on pleasing me so easily. I hope your joking about the "consistency" thing. That's what's so challenging about RootClip, working within the rules and the (correct word) "continuity" of each clip.

haha the consistency was kept pretty well imo, the mysterious lady was killed off... a zombie was evident, no new characters introduced randomly, and all in all the climax was met with igor becoming a zombie himself. Cant wait to see how a resolution can come out of this!

whats wrong with upper darby? and yeah i was joking with the "constistency" thing because it was consistent and it did continue the story, we just killed off the girl because we didnt like it, there is still a monster/zombie and i think we lead up to a pretty good finaly with igor being a zombie. There is alot of options for a resolution also.

wow! i thought this was great! i love the effects, and i also think the story continues great, i don't know why the last submission brought in a random character and i'm glad this entry killed her off. I also love the shot through the neck!

freakin awesome action sequence, and i agree with 2 others that this fits fine with the story, i like how Igor just killed her for no reason, its random and juicy, i think the whole story with the girl in chapter 4 would be too quick of an addition with only 2 chapters left so im glad shes 6 feet under. anyway awesome video with good action and comedy!

oh and to jakesb, i can answer B, C,D,E, and F for you. just for fun.

B) they did not break any traits, first; you don't even know that Igor is telling the truth. second; what character traits? were they ever in a situation like that? and in your episode they blew up a hospitol full of innocent people, im sure they can kill.

C) is there any time to explain even the whole story of her with the chapters? was it even explained why she was there? so why explain why they killed her? How does the viewer even know shes dead? there was only gunshots!

D and F) how do you know that that is the monster and not just a random guy that was infected with the virus? How did the monster escape and come back to life in your second chapter? i thought the wires were for the hospital blowing up..

E) Obviously Dr. Frank is infected with the virus, from the third chapter, but Igor was in a fight with a monster and quite possibly came into contact with its blood, therefore quickening the infection time.

before posting some questions to sound smart do some research or think of the possibilities! this is Rootclip! anything can happen!

Haha well imagination is a key in the film industry but i guess society is straying away from that too. Sorry for upsetting you with our video, but I thought it would be good to show what we created.. I guess not. I could explain it all to you, but I know that should be done in the video.

I'll try anyhow:

That 2 minutes gets harder and harder to drive consistency with as the root clip chapters go on and on and seeing how you did chapter 2 it looks like it might have been a little.... a lot easier for you to do so, so I will let you in on our thoughts. [A) I perceived from the previous chapter that the lady wanted to contain the infection as much as possible by saying "did he touch anyone?.... now did he touch anyone else?", so her looking to be a threat is not out of the question and is not inconsistent, also by killing her she is still an element, so dont count her out] [B) Dr. Frank and Igor did not shoot the lady, she took out a gun and igor killed her with his blackbelt skills, sorry that one took a bit of imagination cause we had to cut stuff out] [C) We couldn't make a dialogue scene with the lady, because we had to get the chapter moving quickly to end the rising action lead to the climax and finish off the climax with Igor being apparent as a zombie in a total of 2 minutes, and I didnt think we did as trash of a job of doing it as you have clearly pointed out] [D) You just asked how is the monster back to life.... I am pretty sure you could ask that in any horror movie, even several times and maybe it got out while the lady and igor were fighting?? thats up to how you want to guess] [E) Frank could turn into a zombie any second.. I watched the chapters and it seemed to me that at 16 seconds in chapter 4 Igor is touched first unless I am mistaken] [F) We chose not to continue that path at the moment, and its not the first time that a film maker has left out something for later in a film or movie]

So there's a few answers and I hope that they resolve some of your complaints. I know they should have been scrunched into this film, but hey I bet you I could do loads better if I had a year to do the S.A.T.s, rather than a few hours.

I'm torn because consistency was really thrown out the window when tinsoldier won chapter 4 and I fully support the killing of the lady because it was a dumb story line but in the end I have to agree with JakusB. It made no sense and took the story backwards quite a bit but the gun toss was cool so you got that going for ya.

on second thought it was pretty nice, I never liked that girl. but kinda a backtrack, I think a great ending could come out of it. I do not know where to stand, ill find out with some other videos

this is a quality work that in my opinion makes this plotline more intriguing i didnt like it however when u guys completely threw out the window the previous chapters ending and for future reference if u plan to make more clips in the future i hope u intend to work with whats given at hand nevertheless this was a clever piece PS i love it when dr frank told igor he was stupid since he was the one at fault on his statement in regards to finding a cure instead a "vaccine"

Umm I didn't really like the girl either, but this video is really sweet. Lots of action is what makes a movie great in my opinion, but I must say that the next and final chapter will be pretty hard since I believe it may take a lot more time to sum up the whole story and find a resolution. I don't know. That's just what I think. The background music worked very well with the video. Couldn't be any better! I liked the area of the place where the movie was shot. It reminds me of someplace nearby my house... hmm... I'm also a big fan of the United States Postal Service.

Nice camera work, good on'ya! Kudo's to Dr Frank-one of the best performances in the series.

I felt killing the monster with the pistol a bit out of keeping with the monster plot, like adding MI to Frankenstein, though I liked the action. If burning the monster was too much to ask, then maybe impalement, freezing, or a cliff fall might have been alternatives.

Then again, consistency in throughline hasn't exactly been the hallmark of this serial. I'm just sayin'.

Didn't really follow the story of the original very well. Acting was decent but could use some work, didn't care for the zombie that much. Action scene was pretty cool I guess. Good work, just could have been better. Although it was better than the other crappy videos that people made.

I must say, I completely agree with unkiebrad.

Easily the best submission. The quality of this video is much greater than the other two.

I'm torn on this one. Honestly, I can let the killing of the daughter slide because she's not one of the original characters. But I think that the story should have picked up from the end of the last chapter. You could have shown the killing or whatever's going on.

One thing that really bothers me? Igor's not wearing jeans! I mean, Dr. Frank's not wearing a lab coat either, but there's some kind of attempt to look like a lab coat. But not being able to find jeans for Igor? Seems like a clear violation.

I do like the style, shooting and editing of this one, but the lack of continuity really bothers me.

I noticed it, too, but I think the truth of the situation is the lack of submissions that ROOT CLIP is dealing with. Winning by default because only one short was submitted defeats the point of this website which is friendly competition. As would be filmmakers that have been lucky enough to stumble upon this great opportunity, we should be out promoting this site to other filmmakers we know in hopes of building a thick community (heck, there are some great prizes here, too, not to mention). Perhaps ROOT CLIP could develop an outreach program where they send some of us folks who participate on here to film festivals in our areas where we pass out fliers, rub elbows with other filmmakers, really promote in a big way! Just a thought.

i agree, and wish rootclip was bigger, and we were not trying to pull anything by not wearing jeans, just a honest mistake that there is really no excuse for haha.

thought it was awesome! Loved the slow motion of the gun flying. Thought the acting of Dr. Frank (Bill Hilferty) reminded me of the intensity of a young Al Pacino.

This was ok. For me it wasn't as good as I had hoped but it was sure better than the rest in this chapter. Word of Advice, when you film, don't use sooooo many mediums and wides. It makes it so boring to look at. I might as well just listen to it only. When you film throw in some interesting shots. An angled shot here, low shot there. It would make your films much better. Also dont be afraid to use close ups. I use them consistently in my films. Fallow the rule or WALLDO. It's the most generic and most used shoot technique in film.

My advice, just go out to a library, the internet, or even a good movie, and just study up on shooting techniques and skills. Studying the camerawork of movies is a really good way of becoming a better photographer. REMEMBER, your job as a artist of film is to create a story. Your shots are the words and your camera is the pencil. But other than that this one was a pretty well rounded film.
