The video thumbnail, while hilarious, is not intentional. You can bet teams from now on are going to be figuring out exactly what second that is and starting to place bikini-clad maidens right there! :-) Might I add that the play button is also precariously perched.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. We traded in the scifi for a more traditional actiony plot. There wasn't as much time/crew available for this one and the hurricane complicated the shooting schedule, but we gave it our best.

We've never done any gun stuff before, and it was cool learning how to do the muzzle flashes in post. Depending on your monitor it might be (very) hard to see. (Kinda sucks.. the video looks a lot darker on here, but I am on a different computer than the one I edited on)

Okay - enough about the girls private parts. I didn't know that's what this was about?? Getting back to the tape, it's the second one I've watched and I think I like it better than the first (Nowhere to Run). I liked the driving shots - nice trees - but the "inside the van shots" were too dark. The story at least was not a rerun from Jericho, but it still did not really peak my interest also I could not understand all of the dialog...meaning it was not coming thro clearly. This is not a problem with my computer it was an enuciation problem.

I agree with the tree shots, beautiful...but I feel like the quality of the film drops once the first guy gets shot. Also, its a little late to be introducing yet another character, too much new story and not enough explanation.

Everyone keeps saying that like introducing another character is like the end of the world lol. It's never too late to introduce another character! Sissies

I didn't really like this one. It kills off one of the main character, the other is left behind. It branches off it's own story line and doesn't fit with the rest of the series. What happened with the bomb that everyone seems to have forgotten about? That's what started all of this.

How I watched the video ,and I imagine how it was filmed ...people are after april dead or alive so hmmmm ... maybe that explosion was ...lets see ...someone wanting her DEAD!.(@tony cottect me if I'm wrong) and oh no added a character ! ...and pretty much killed 3 of leaving 1 less then most ...people are stupid . Entering the last with 2 characters is big story progression and easier . To bad I'm getting 5 jude votes or you prolly had a chance at this round but good luck dude.

yeah, i suppose that KC could easily be alive...much like april turned out to be... I see the split in the story much like a road that splits and goes around a lake or pond- it could just as easily intersect after the fact or ..never again. i feel all the other entries just played it way too safe.. and jhonny points out that its fewer people. I mean, heck, there's a million reasons but i think this box only gets so big lol.

So...I'm kinda new to this whole thing but I am really not a fan of this one. I mean there are some really nice shots but there is just way too much goin on for me. Like why you killin everyone? Wasn't the point to make a cohernt story that follows the three characters from beginning to end? Also there is no attempt to start to wrap up, you just added another twist (which is always great) but I guess I was lookin for more explanation...maybe a hint as to why they want April or a reason for the explosion. Maybe it's just me but I am not a fan of films that just keep you hanging and then reveal everything little detail right at the very end. I guess I'm more of give me hints and let me try and figure it out.

Anyway, rant over...I still say great effort though!

Isn't the point to get as many members as possible to get more entries and make this badass thing get even bigger? Everybody starts off as a newcomer at some point. Anyway, to back up the whole character comment I made, we are in chapter five now, we are basically setting up for the final act and I wanna see more resolution than just sweet plot twists. Im not sure i really like the way this is going. It just seemed a bit confusing as to what can happen next. just adding and taking character away so late in the series.

I agree the extra character jumping in and ditching the others...sure its headed for an ending but its a little contrived. I mean i honestly liked alot of it, the thing that really bother me is the line "You're worth more alive" I have no idea how this new character and her are gonna wrap up a story lien that has yes to surface with one more video

ok, sweet the thumbnail is skirt and legs...yay. But then again she looks 15 in the video...so yeah. Its shot just fine. I do kinda fail to see how shooting a main character and not doing a cliff hanger and pretty much going nowhere helps the story move along. Maybe if somebody was trapped in a watch! huh? huh? That'd be badass, right? huh? yeah.....

Tony - I think your a very talented film maker & for your next film I hope a hurricane doesn't head in the path of your production. - that said I also think that this would have been a great entry for chapter 4 - I think you should have used those 16 seconds & brought april to meet her maker, or established who wanted her & why the person wanted her ... if you would have done that you would have had my vote.

I hope we win, mostly so I can show you how it will end.

Sorry, but I thought the tumbling space mirror in Superman and Superman II was more effective than the watch -- an OBVIOUS plot rip-off.

@everyone saying we screwed up the story by doing too much or not enough:

Round 2 was won by a video that essentially killed one of the main characters. April later turned out to be alive, but I don't think it was a major issue for anyone at the time. (But I'm not going to go check the comments again)

Round 3 was a musical. The other characters chased Santa(!) down the road with April still alive (and singing) on the hood, rolling off just before Santa self-destructed for no reason. Besides declaring April not dead, it didn't otherwise advance the plot. And, although I preferred "Citrus with Attitude", I can certainly see why the judges ended up backing FungusRidden's video so strongly, as it was quite well done.

Round 4 introduced a completely new character, with a gun, insisting that April and her friends come with him.

This video involves someone else who is also after April and insists even more strongly (using bullets!) that she come with him. It is revealed that people are after April because she has a price on her head, which makes sense seeing as how she is a reporter that has thus far been hit by a car and abducted at gun point. Things are blowing up and she's getting close to the truth, etc etc.

The full story behind the situation, the reason this isn't just another "same ole" day for Ryan and KC, is a glorious round 6 epiphany thing. Even if we had started it here, the round 6 entries could just ignore it and do whatever they want. (i.e. does anyone remember the book from the first clip??)

I don't recall anything in the rules (or anywhere else) that says all 3 characters featured in the first clip need to all be together again having a tea party in the last clip.

KC could be dead, or dying, alone or with Ryan. Ryan could have gone to get help or just run for the hills. The next video could even ignore him entirely and just follow April and her captor... I don't see where the plot is unclear at the moment or lacks direction from this point on.

There are a million things you could do from this point, and wrap things up in the 2 (or 3+) minutes with a wicked reveal. I sincerely hope we win this round so we can show you an example.

I don't mean to sound demeaning but have you ever studied story structure? or even like a 3 act structure? this is the 2nd to last video and you should be heading toward a resolution....all you seemed to do is take a Michael Bay approach by killing off, trading, and adding new characters.

I think you may need to re-evaluate what is considered a "damn good story"

Killing off characters are not a big deal. (Bad acting should be punished by death) What I don't like about this chapter is that it goes nowhere. There are no sensible details and no cliff hanger.

I think this has a cliff hanger , and if I can't win "knock on wood" I would like to see how he sums it up. And as for story structure anyone who has seen mine knows I don't play those games . 3 act bs means to me you aren't creative and need to follow a templet . If my xl1 didn't break I can tell you I planned to kill april and not like in round 2 I was going to splatterher brains ...like a zombie hit em in the brain an they stay dead.

Dear Rootclip Team and community.

I don't know where to post this, so I'll just post it in the comments of the two videos involved.

Actually you just have to look at the voting history of "wrong place, wrong time". The video got 67 Votes in the last two hours! Wow! Over a third of all their votes in just two hours. These guys must have forgotten to tell so many of their friends about this thing and must've told them this morning! Congratulations! This is pretty amazing!

First I thought "there must be something wrong!" But then I read in the voters comments that one friend was at work and wanted to ask the others from work to vote for this clip. Okay, I thought. So this guy managed to convince at least 30 people from work to vote. Nice! Then I also found out that one of the voters was sitting in film class. So he also might have just asked about 30 students to vote for "wrong place, wrong time".

The only thing that disturbs me is that the votes are so nicely spread over the last two hours! Poor office, poor film school! Could somebody please give them another computer so they don't have to stand in line to vote! One might still think there's something wrong. But don't worry. One third of the last-two-hour voters have at least posted a comment or have voted also for another clip. So everything is cool - these are real people!

Good for them that they had so many friends who voted! If it weren't for them "Nowhere to run" would have won.

So there is nothing left to say than congratulations!

I propose a 1/3 2/3 split between judges and voters. Judges get 1/3 and voters get 2/3. That way, popular vote might affect the outcome of the winners instead of being meaningless. As the site grows the point is to attract people and make them feel like they accomplished something, but we just feel like we wasted ours (and our voters) precious time. It is very difficult to keep telling people to vote when we don't win. Its also BS that because we got a bunch of votes people think we are cheaters. You're just jealous because you can't get that many. And to you, piss off. You'll see us get the same numbers next time.

We had popular vote last time also. I would have proposed the switch in judge/vote percentages earlier but I didn't think it would happen again. (We had 23% versus the next highest at 14%) and the round before that was quite close (solid 20 to 19 percent). i think weve discovered that the formula for the balance between judges and voters has not been found yet.

wow, judges Ducked you again tony. pop vote really doesn't mean jack, they may as well get rid of it. Or just display the pop vote off to the side, and let the big guys weigh in at the adult table to determine the winner. because that's what it is, off to the side...

You are not cheated. The judges were brought in to balance the better clips from a viral rally from friends (and past cheaters). The winning formula is not only to spread the word, but to woo the judges with the best chapter. If jhonny had 12 million friends that voted, and won this round ... would you think that was fair with her submission?

I know Rootclip has t-shirts, but how about Rootclip crying towels for the losers ... that would be pretty funny.

Voting help the winner also. It's not all about the popular vote and getting votes from friends and friends of friends - that's only one battle. I'm glad that they will be giving it another try.

These guys don't like when the community critiques their videos ... they don't like when the judges don't pick their videos ... They need to start listening more, and reacting less to win this game. At the end of the day, focusing on popular vote has not paid off.

I think you guys should consider doing a commercial for Rootclip ... see their blog.

It should be pointed out that Rootclip has a fairly limited viewer base since this site is in its infancy. The more viewers this site attracts, the user based voting percentages will more accurately reflect the best videos. When there are 10,000 people voting on the best video, someone who solicits 100 friends and family to vote for their video will only slightly affect the percentage of votes their video recieves. So, the more the site grows the better the current system will be.

I don't fault Tony for encouraging friends and family to vote for their video and I wouldn't go so far as to say it equates to cheating. From the perspective of the Root Clip creators, how do you quantify how many people a participant may send to the site to vote for their video? It's impossible. Tony has introduced a lot of people to the site and that is a positive thing for the community.

Let's all keep in mind that this is a venue to improve our filmmaking skills and receive feedback from our peers and those working in the industry. The competition aspect of this is exciting, but let's not get so caught up in it that we loose sight of what we are here to do - have fun and help eachother out.

I wish this system was in effect last story. It's a nice little 2 part game now.

-First, make a quality video that professionals will like and vote for.
-Second, get everyone you can to vote for you.

If you don't play both parts of the game, your chances of winning are hindered. The newcomers should appreciate that the first part of the formula could be completely ignored before the judges came along.
