After arguing with her boyfriend, Lainey gets a visitor at her door. Is he really just a deaf traveler, wanting to get out of the cold? Or is there something much worse in store? Will this bring Lainey and her boyfriend back together? How will he protect her from the alien? Will the tea kettle boil over? It's all up to you!

I see. Thanks David. This is funny, and I like that it has a completely different feel than all the other Root Clip videos. Excellent job on the Rhythmic Editing.

In all honesty, I wish we had more time to put into this, but the goal was to create something a little different to expand the RootClip audience even more :)

Tis good, but I felt it was a bit more amateurish than the rest of the previous chapter 1's. I'm glad rootclip is finally back... I needed something to do :D

I agree with ya David, it does make it difficult to build off of... do we make the setting night time... or daytime? Or should we have it randomly bounce around between those two? I guess it gives us more options... =P

I heard that support from a big backing company of this site (namely the one at the bottom of the screen) was pulled. The prizes will seem a little skimpy for a while compared to what they have been in the past but, hey, people are still getting something for doing what they love and things will get better once a new sponsor is secured (and the tee shirts look pretty cool). We must remember to not get spoiled by what has been in the past. If the extravagant prizes from the past are the only reason people were submitting to this site, then I question their respect for the art of filmmaking (on an amateur level like this) . "Would you still do what you do even if you didn't get paid"?

And I agree with Knox. This site is about community, and making ourselves and everyone else better film makers. The prizes are just a side plus. Who cares if the prizes are a little weak? We are in the middle of an economic crisis. Give it a story or two, and RootClip will eventually find a new (and maybe even better) sponsor.

You mean we can get paid for this stuff??? Hahaha!! Just kidding, but I agree that doing this simply for a little bit of cash or credit is hardly the best reason to enter. I don't expect to be good enough to win for a while but I've already received some fantastic feedback from other filmmakers that have helped me and I will continue to make entries as time and "actors" are available, even if I gotta "act" myself!!! Besides, my brother and I are the token "OLD GUYS" on the site! HAHAHA!!! That was freakin' priceless!!! Hope you all have a great new year and I look forward to making my CHAPTER TWO ENTRY soon!!! The day/night thing was supposed to be gradual, but I guess it wasn't that obvious. The story begins in the early evening and ends just after sundown.

Or (like fiercedeityys said) maybe it's because of the presence of the alien shrugs

The change of prize is fine, but could we please test out the Hey Dirtbag shirt as well? :< Or maybe a nice Jim logo? Those of us with one classic grey Root tee may not want to wear a second one around as well, or people will start suspecting that we don't do our laundry... ;_;

Story notwithstanding, this video looks so much better on Vimeo, I suggest you go check it out there. We are going to try to do a chapter. We are very busy, why you ask!
