Rootclip

After reading some of your recent discussions in the forums, we're seriously thinking about opening up the next Rootclip story to the user community, beginning with chapter 1.

Basically, we would open the submissions for chapter 1 for about a month or so, then hold a vote. From there, the story would work just like they always have. The only change is that YOU get to create chapter 1.

What do you think?

Although, I think it should be a speed round - like 48hrs turnaround.

We are also toying around with the idea of having everyone submit their scripts, then have the best voted script be shot by multiple people for chapter 1. Then, it's all about the acting and the videography.

IDK...it's still in its infancy, but I'd like to hear from some others on what they think and how this could go down.

I don't really know which is better, but I like both ideas. I'm a little concerned about how much participation there'd be for a script contest, though. :/

I like the script idea. Focuses more on the actual film making itself.

Given people's schedules/doing this site as a hobby, a 48 hour turn around wouldn't be best suited for this type of thing.

This whole forum is quieter than a....I can't think of anything, but for real, is it winter where you are? Are you hibernating?

I like 48 hours for its impulsiveness and equalizing factor, but that also conflicts with everything I know and love about our great capitalist values. :< People that have the resources to do a longer, better opening deserve the opportunity to utilize their advantage.

To that end, writing a script would be fairly schedule-friendly to everyone, although formatting could be troublesome for amateurs who don't own Final Draft or understand Celtx... :/
