A New Story and a Celebrity Judge

Dr. Bob Legg is back with another project for the University of Tennessee. This time they wanted to take on the "Good Luck" story and we're excited to see what all of the creative geniuses in his class turn out this semester. The story is live on the site and you can watch chapter 1 to remind yourself with what this story is all about. Please feel free to comment and vote on the submissions that come in from the five teams in his Journalism & Electronic Media 436, Advanced Video Production course.

This UTK project has a different schedule and you'll notice that there are only 5 total chapters in the story. We're working with the course schedule and having to fit things around spring break, but we're also allowing for a little more time in the creation process, which should be interesting. Dr. Legg is also working with his students to prepare some guidelines for each chapter and we'll post those here as soon as we have them. The students will be required to stick to those guidelines and you (as judges) should take them into account when placing your votes.

Speaking of voting, we've got a celebrity guest joining the distinguished panel of judges for the UTK project. Earlier this week on Twitter, I eluded to a certain Heroes character who would be working with us on the next story. Enter stage right, Brea Grant who you have most recently known as Daphne from the popular NBC series Heroes. Brea is excited about the opportunity to work with Rootclip and as her bio says, she likes judging things.

Personally, I'm excited to have her on board because she (unlike some actors) is using her blog, Twitter and other social networking sites herself instead of having a team keep up a web presence. She's the real deal and we're glad to have her on board with us. Maybe we'll even convince her to share some acting tips on the blog. Please give her (and the rest of the Rootclip judges) a warm welcome. We couldn't do this without them and we are very thankful for their time and help.

DM, you reek of pure genius. Don't ever shower.

@Rootclip, please give this man a t-shirt, then make his dreams a reality.

Hell yeah! Or ya could even copy apple and do a 24 hour one >:D. I think the RootClip team needs to have a sit down with Mr. Moon to stratagize about the site. Hes told me stuff that has sounded simply brilliant. Really, Eric and Kevin, do it!

First, I love Rootclip -- it's a great concept. As a visitor, I have to remind myself to come back to the site. Sometimes I think the pace is a little slow -- it would seem a little more exciting with some wild card rules between each chapter. Like a speed round, introducing new characters or props.

As far as overall strategy, more content and more mechanisms to collaborate as a community on Rootclip activities and armature and professional video.
