Collaboration Effort Pulls Off a Win

Congratulations goes out to JakusRidden for winning chapter 2 of The Alien. JakusRidden is the collaborative effort of users JakusB, FungusRidden, SomethingsAwry and FierceDeityYS. Finding out that each person only lived within a few hours of the others, they decided to meet up and work together on a submission. The work seems to have pulled off in their submission "Jim's Been Drinking Again".

It was a close race and the judges votes were all over the place on this one. It was great to see submissions from two new filmmakers; rorymcfly and muscleman who each won over at least one of the judges. Well done guys! Our old friend rocknessmonster was also back in the action with a great story, but from the sound of the comments, the acting is what hurt them the most.

I hope that everybody is learning and taking some bit of knowledge away from each of their submissions. What have you all learned that has been of value to you for future productions? What sort of things have you seen work well and what other things have not worked out so great?

I wanted to encourage all of you to spend a little time over at TakeZer0.com. They've got some excellent tutorials like how to add depth to your shots and they've also got some good content in their new forum.

With chapter 2 coming to a close that means the submissions are open for chapter 3 of The Alien. You'd better hurry because submissions close at Noon EST on the 26th!

I was drawn to the winner because it focused more on the characters and the actual dramatization than relying on guns and action sequences. Users submitting videos to RC are definitely growing imo. Keep it up, everyone!

Thanks Sean! When planning, we really did an in depth analysis at what we thought each characters personalities and motives were. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here!

@JakusB sorry about saying you were from PA. I think I confused you with another member on the site. I'll update the blog post right now.
