In the same vein as the UTK projects that we've done in the past, we're launching a new story for a group of students in Alaska. We've been working with some folks at the Alaska Native Heritage Center to set this up and are excited to see what all of these young filmmakers can do.
Here's a description of the story and the groups that will be participating in its creation.
Hello all and welcome to The Haunted Site! The goal of this project is to give traditionally under-represented Alaskan high school students the opportunity to display their talents and give them an outlet for their creativity. The project's participants are students in the Alaska Native Heritage Center after school program's media class, students from King Career Center's media class, and Cook Inlet Tribal Council's Mediak program.
Here at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, we have examples of traditional dwellings representing each of the five major cultural groups here in Alaska. During the summers, tourists come and visit our museum, see interesting cultural movies, and take tours of the village sites in order to learn more about Alaska Native cultures. One tourist doesn't quite get it, though.
The submissions will be restricted to the students from these programs, but we're counting on the rest of the community to help them out by voting and giving them some constructive feedback in the comments and forums. Let's give these folks a warm Rootclip welcome!
