Since it's the Halloween season, I, like everyone else breaks out the scary movies. This past weekend we watched the likes of Vacancy, Disturbia, Silent Hill, and Stay Alive. Stay Alive was amazing because Malcolm in the Middle was in it and he swears a lot. None of the above movies mentioned are considered "classics" in anybody's book. At least I hope they aren't. I went to the movies the other day with a friend and watched "Quarantine", another movie in the same class as what I saw this weekend. Nothing great, but not the worst movie I've ever seen.
This movie was all shot through the lens of a TV station cameraman, which was kind of a cool idea, but it did make for some motion sickness moments when the cameraman was being chased around the building. There was one sequence where he was running up and down stairs it seemed for like 5 minutes and we were both having a hard time focusing and keeping lunch down.
You can't really expect a deep well thought out plot from movies like these. This movie was put out to make you jump and cringe in your seat, and they do that well. The basic idea of the story is that a fast acting Rabies gets into this apartment building (how?) and everybody in the building is going to get it at some point, so the government, police, somebody......decides to "Quarantine" off the building (get it?) and just let the infected die off inside. The residents respond back with "Homey Don't Play That!!!!!", and amazingly there is a cameraman inside the building to film everything.
This is a typical scary movie where you have a cast of characters and one by one they meet their demise. I'm not going to play spoiler and say they all meet their end, maybe they do maybe they don't. The ending does leave much to be desired and I wish they would have explained how the Rabies got in the building to begin with. I think they try to imply how at the end, but I'm not too bright and I need clearer explanations. If you go in expecting a jumpy scary movie, this is good. If you go in expecting an Oscar worthy screenplay, um......go see something else.

Don't see this movie, it is an exact rip from a 2007 spanish film "[REC]".. Pretty sad they couldn't come up with anything original. Watch the original if you see anything
